Can I Put New Subfloor Over Old Subfloor

Before you decide to lay subfloor and new flooring over your old flooring measure the distance from the bottom of the doors to the floor.
The flooring must be installed crossing the floor joists at a 90 degree angle. In older homes it was not uncommon for the subfloor to consist of simple 1 x 6 1 x 8 or 1 x 10 planks nailed diagonally across the joists. We ve researched enough on how to install the newer subfloor but the one question that we can t get a clear answer on is wether or not to screw the newer osb subfloor into the floor joists. If the laminate flooring is installed parallel to the direction of the floor joists the laminate flooring could develop distortion later. I have always preferred to fix them right that is cut out the bad wood repair or replace floor joists as needed block around the edges of the patch so that the repair is solid.
