On august 29 2005 the category 3 storm wreaked havoc in the city when the levees bordering the swelling. On august 25 2005 hurricane katrina hit the gulf coast of the united states. Following the storm six flags after a lengthy battle with the city of new orleans cut ties with the park and took with it a few salvageable rides.
The old six flags new orleans still stands today almost 15 years after hurricane katrina barrelled into the big easy resulting in well over a billion dollars of damage and untold lives taken.
