Social cognitive theory one of the most highly influential and widely celebrated theories in the field of social psychology has received substantial attention from the field of media effects. Where as cognitive behavioral theory explains learning comes from mental processes. The social learning theory and cognitive behavioral theories has an significant impact on our life. However despite the enthusiasm with which media scholars have embraced social cognitive theory its integration into media research is still in its infancy.
Both of these theories focus on the developmental aspect of life. Their similarity is due in large part to the great contribution of albert bandura to these theories. Social learning theory highlights that people acquire new behavior learn through observation of others. Social cognitive theory and social learning theory are very similar as learning theories.
