Can Two Brown Eyes Make Blue Eyes
Olivia Luz
Two brown eyed parents could be carriers of the recessive gene that causes blue eyes.
2009 we have done a punnett s square test and shown that both parents have to be heterozygous ct in order for their child to have 25 probability of inheriting blue eyes. If both brown eyed parents are either ct or tt none of their children would have blue eyes. I have brown eyes my husband has blue eyes we have 2 daughters with green eyes and a son with. The gene for blue eyes is recessive so both parents can carry it without exhibiting blue eyes.
Because of how eye color works see below if one gene can cause brown eyes it would dominate over another that causes blue. Eye color is not the simple decision between the brown or green and blue versions of a single gene. To factor in hidden recessive traits it is helpful to know the grandparents eye colors. If the child inherits the blue eyed recessive gene from each parent he has blue eyes.
In fact that is what happens with green eyes in the older model. First the answer is yes to both questions. As a dominant trait brown eyes can result from six different genetic combinations and can hide recessive traits of green or blue eye color. If both brown eyed parents are both tt none of their children would have blue eyes.
